About Connecting Chelford

Connecting Chelford provides a voice for all generations: friendship, support, activities, outings and events aimed at reducing loneliness, encouraging intergenerational opportunities and enhancing health and wellbeing in Chelford and surrounding villages.

In 2025 Connecting Chelford was honoured to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, which aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to support their communities. The award was created in 2002 to celebrate Her Late Majesty The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and was continued following the accession of His Majesty The King.

What We Do

Befriending

Befriending is a free support service that offers companionship to people in need. It aims to combat loneliness and low confidence by providing scheduled, social phone calls or meetups with a trained volunteer. It can help increase overall wellbeing, giving people the boost they need to start learning new skills and enjoying life.

Friendship Café

We hold a weekly Friendship Café every Tuesday from 10am - 11.30am. The Friendship café is a welcoming space where you can meet new friends in a cosy environment or catch up with old ones with some tasty refreshments. Everyone is welcome and hot drinks and treats are provided. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for seasonal events and activities too!

Memory Lane Café

Memory Lane Café runs every fortnight on Tuesday from 2-4pm. It provides a warm welcome for people living with memory and cognitive issues, and their carers. It is wonderful to see the pleasure, growth in confidence and friendships which have formed within the group.

Monthly Lunches

We hold a monthly two course lunch on the first Thursday of each month. Menus are decided by the attendees and everyone goes home full! We also do home-delivery for those who are unable to attend the hub. Each 2 course meal is £10 per person and includes teas and coffees. Booking is essential as these are extremely popular.

Monthly Outings

Once a month we have an outing - the location is chosen by our attendees who vote for where they would like to go. We have visited various places including Garden Centres, Shopping Centres, Ice-Cream farms and much more. These trips are very popular so booking in advance is required.

Butterflies Baby & Toddler Group

Activities for children up to 4 years, fostering a sense of community and support for parents, grandparents, and carers. Join the fun and friendship on a Thursday morning during term time at Chelford School. Come anytime between 9.30am and 11.30am. Any questions, please contact butterflieschelford04@gmail.com
